Auckland Public Lecture: The use of fiscal instruments to achieve environmental policy objectives

The Tax Policy Charitable Trust is delighted to be welcoming Ian Parry, Principal Environmental Fiscal Policy Expert at the International Monetary Fund, to speak at a series of events in New Zealand. Ian’s visit comes at a time when there is heightened interest in and debate regarding emissions reduction targets and the mechanisms for achieving these.
Ian will discuss the global picture in respect of environmental issues, the role of mitigation instruments, mechanisms to enhance acceptability and broader environmental concerns. He concludes with some observations specifically focused on Aotearoa New Zealand.
This public lecture promises to be a thought-provoking event about an important set of issues.
